KARATE

SIX senior members of the Bishop’s Stortford Kyokushin Karate Club were suitably exhausted and pleased after a weekend at the Kyokushin GB Senior Summer Camp at Culford, Bury St Edmunds.

The camp was opened by country representative and chairman Shihan Jose Clarinino (seventh Dan) and consisted of midnight runs, early morning fitness sessions, Kata, Kumite fighting work and weapon training, Nunchuka and Bo.

The weekend also saw BSKKC’s Dave Rogers and Ravi Hirani successfully pass their first kyu brown belt grading after a written exam, ten-man kumite and fight test.

BSKKC junior and senior clubs train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at United Reformed Church Hall, Water Lane, Bishop's Stortford. The club's Budo session (fight training) is at the Thorley Community Centre on Sunday mornings.
