FOOTBALL
Harlow Town 1
Barnet 4
HARLOW were stung by the Bees as they went down 4-1 to Barnet in their second pre-season friendly.
The Hawks put in a pluck performance and forced some good chances but in the end the League Two outfit proved too strong.
Home keeper James Hasell was in the action from the off, saving well from Adam Birchall.
But the Bees took the lead in the eighth minute, Birchall dispatching from the penalty spot after Danny Green was adjudged to have handled.
Harlow could have equalised on 16 minutes but Beckett Hollenbach headed wide following a Leon Lalite corner.
At the other end, the Bees almost increased their advantage, but Hassel made a fine double save to deny Birchall and Albert Adomah.
The Hawks pulled level on 34 minutes during a good spell of pressure, defender Danny Chapman rising highest to head home Mark Taylor's swung cross.
Hassel was back in the thick of it before the break, producing another fine stop from Adomah.
But he could do nothing to prevent the same man volleying Barnet back into the lead in the 43rd minute from a rebound.
Skipper James Bunn had two chances to bring Harlow level in the dying moments of the half, but was denied on both occasions.
Player-boss Ryan Kirby rung the changes after the break but it was Barnet in the ascendency.
Danny Hart, Kieron St Aimie and Green all had chances to increase the visitors advantage.
But Barnet finally grabbed a third when Luke Medley latched onto a neat through ball, rounded substitute keeper Michael Dumoulin and rifled home from a tight angle.
Lalite and trialist Chris Groves both had chances to reduce the areers, but neither could force their efforts home.
And five minutes from time Barnet grabbed their fourth when a long range piledriver from Danny Hart flew into the back of the net.
