BISHOP’S Stortford Cricket Club saw their chances of closing the gap on league leaders Potters Bar dashed after their match with Stevenage was rained off.
In difficult conditions at Cricketfield Lane the hosts had opened the batting and were 94-4 at lunch after 34 overs.
Skipper David Hughes had secured the bulk of the runs with a magnificent half century, before becoming the third victim of the prolific T Sikander (3-30).
With the table-toppers’ home match against North Mymms also falling victim to the weather, Stortford remain just eight points behind them in the current standings.
The Cricketfield Lane outfit will be hoping for more luck with the weather this weekend when they travel to fourth placed West Herts.
